Udemy is a learning platform that brings together people who want to grow—and that’s a beautiful thing.
But here’s where it falls short: the certificates. Every course creator ends up issuing the same generic certificate. No branding. No standout features. No long-term value for you as the issuer.
Generic isn’t your only option. Let’s raise the bar. In this article, we show you a few Udemy certificate samples to get inspired and then how to create stronger, professional certificates with Certifier—a comprehensive platform for certificate management.
If you’re a Udemy for Business user, you can automate the whole process using Zapier. If you’re on standard Udemy creating free courses, we’ve got a smart workaround for you too.
Go beyond Udemy’s default without giving up Udemy’s reach.
TL;DR
Udemy certificate samples lack branding elements—they follow a fixed layout that looks the same for every recipient.
You can’t customize the template’s design, can’t add a logo or apply your own visual identity, which makes it harder for your course to stand out.
Udemy for Business users can integrate their accounts with Certifier via Zapier to automate personalized certificate delivery. The setup is quick and everything runs in the background after course completion.
What does the sample of Udemy certificate look like?
A typical Udemy certificate of completion sample follows a fixed layout across all courses. The design is minimal and standardized, using a white background and a bold, sans-serif font for high readability.

The Udemy logo is big enough. It doesn’t get lost in the design. It’s placed at the top in its signature purple-and-black colors. The certificate title reads “Certificate of Completion,” and you may spot this title phrase in every Udemy course completion certificate sample.
As opposed to typical certificates, the Udemy sample certificate's title is smaller than the course name, which is written in large black text.

The instructor’s name(s) appear next in smaller type, but they’re highlighted in bold.
The recipient’s name is prominently featured in the lower section of the certificate, along with a few essential course details.
The additional data appears in small gray text, typically including identification details like a unique certificate code.

The plain white background, as well as the minimalist structure, ensures consistency and sets a standard. The Udemy certificate samples above are free from clutter and are easy to follow.
What’s included in a standard Udemy certificate of completion sample?
If you plan to create a Udemy-inspired certificate, use this list as your starting point. We’ve listed the key elements you’ll find in any Udemy certificate of completion sample image.

(1) Logo: It’s one of the first things people notice. Every Udemy sample certificate places it top-left for instant recognition.
(2) Verification details: Certificate number, URL and a reference number are included on the right, slightly smaller and lighter in font.
(3) Clear certificate title: Every sample Udemy certificate of completion has the certificate title in smaller font–it doesn’t grab attention as much as, for example, the course title.
(4) Course title: It’s the most prominent element on the sample certificate of Udemy.
(5) Instructor names: Under the course title, there’s room to appreciate the people behind the course. It gives the certificate weight.
(6) Learner’s full name: It’s placed in the bottom part of the Udemy course certificate sample, using a larger font.
(7) Completion date and course length: The date tells when the learning happened, which matters for resumes and timelines. Also, there’s info on how many hours were spent on the course.
Udemy course completion certificate samples’ limitations
The standardized format helps keep Udemy certificates recognizable, but it also makes it harder for course creators to personalize or elevate their certificates—especially if they want to align them with their own brand.
That’s where Certifier comes in. It’s a comprehensive certificate management platform that integrates with Udemy for Business.
Thanks to the Certifier integration with Udemy via Zapier, you gain design flexibility, branding freedom and support for any course—including free ones. See the difference:

There’s no way to customize the Udemy certificate layout. The font, spacing and structure are always the same and you can't add logos, grades or your company branding elements.
It’s a missed opportunity for course makers. Many recipients share their certificates on social media—especially on LinkedIn. And if your course certificate includes your training center’s logo, that’s free visibility. People see it, click on it and associate your brand with quality learning. It’s an organic way to get in front of potential clients, without spending on ads.
Moreover, only paid Udemy courses include a built-in certificate of completion. Free courses and those made up of practice tests only don’t offer certificates. You need to find some other way to appreciate learners.
What’s the solution?
For Udemy Standard users offering free courses: If you still want to benefit from Udemy’s reach while offering a personalized, branded certificate experience, issue them using Certifier. Mind that you need to do that outside Udemy. It’s a semi-automated process.
For Udemy for Business users: If you're using Udemy for Business, you can go one step further. Use Zapier to connect Certifier and Udemy to send branded certificates automatically—no need to leave Udemy. You create the workflow only once, and the certificate issuance process runs on autopilot.
Let’s see a few Udemy certificate of completion samples you can create in Certifier. After that, we’ll walk through how Udemy users can use Certifier to level up their certificate.
A better Udemy certificate sample alternative: Udemy-style certificates to edit
Here are a few credentials styled just like the sample certificates of Udemy we’ve discussed—only upgraded. These editable templates come with features that Udemy certificates don’t offer:
Branding: All the templates are white-labeled—upload your logo, use custom fonts and match the colors to your visual identity
Built-in QR code generation: Link to a verification page or direct learners to your Udemy course (or any other site)
Full editability: Move, resize, change background or add images or text fields like grades, digital signatures or instructor titles
Expiration date: Udemy certificates don’t expire. In Certifier, you can set expiration dates and learners will get automatic email reminders 2 weeks before their certificates expire. This nudges learners to revisit your course or buy the next one, boosting retention and sales
And don’t worry about bulk issuance. Certifier lets you generate personalized certificates for entire course groups in just a few clicks.
If you like the design, click the blue button. You will be directed to the Certifier visual template editor, where you can adjust the completion certificate template.
Udemy certificate of completion sample with a green border

This template keeps the clean layout you’ll recognize from any Udemy certificate of completion sample image, but with key upgrades.
While a typical Udemy certificate sample lacks space for digital signatures, this template includes space for signatures, an ID number and validity dates.
If your course requires renewal, Certifier lets you set certificate expiration dates and sends automatic reminder emails to learners. Set it up once—reminders and delivery emails go out on their own, from a custom domain, fully personalized.
Udemy sample certificate with a modern flair

Inspired by a classic Udemy course certificate sample, this certificate keeps things clean and centered while giving you more control.
It includes all the essentials from a sample Udemy certificate of completion, like course title, instructor, learner’s name and total hours—plus a verifiable QR code, instructor’s signature, your logo at the top and contact details.
Sample Udemy certificate of completion with clean layout

The clean layout echoes a Udemy certificate of completion sample, but subtle design touches—like the purple strap and circular QR badge add originality. These elements are fully editable, so you can adjust colors to fit your branding.
Our design for a digital course certificate for an online course stays modern and structured, making it ideal for both creative and professional audiences.
Sample Udemy certificate of completion with clean layout

Ideal for formal courses, this design keeps things serious but not boring. This template stands out while staying close to the Udemy certificate sample PDF structure. The framed border organizes the content clearly, just like a sample certificate of Udemy would.
What sets it apart are the geometric accents in the corners—they bring a subtle, stylish flair without distracting from the key information.
Sample Udemy certificate of completion with big logo

This Udemy-inspired certificate keeps the familiar structure of a Udemy certificate sample image, but adds a few smart touches. The large logo at the top grabs attention right away, while the dotted background gives subtle structure without clutter. The layout is easy to read.
And because it’s built in Certifier, learners get more than a static file. Every certificate is stored in a certificate digital wallet, so recipients never lose track of their achievements. They can share their certificate on LinkedIn in a post or directly to their profile in just a few clicks.
No matter where your courses are hosted—Udemy, your website or another course platform like Kajabi, Thinkific or other—Certifier keeps all achievements in one place.
How to create and send Certifier certificates to Udemy learners?
If you’re using Udemy for Business, you can integrate your course with Certifier through Zapier. This setup lets you send professional, fully branded certificates automatically—right after a learner completes a course. Everything runs in the background.
Standard Udemy users offering free courses can still issue branded certificates via Certifier. However, they need to leave Udemy for a moment. It’s a semi-automated process, but still quicker and more flexible than relying on Udemy’s defaults.
Before you start: Whether you're a Udemy for Business user or using standard Udemy for your free courses, there’s one common step for you both—to adjust your certificate template in Certifier. At the end of this section, you’ll find a quick tutorial on how to tailor your template in Certifier so it stands out from any Udemy sample certificate.
Connect Udemy for Business with Certifier via Zapier
To do that, start by creating a workflow—called a Zap—in Zapier. A Zap is an automated connection between two apps. In this case, it links Udemy for Business (when a course is completed) to Certifier (which sends out a certificate).
First things first, sign up or log in to your Certifier and Zapier accounts.
01 Create a new Zap in Zapier
In Zapier’s dashboard, click + Create Zap
02 Choose Udemy for Business as the trigger
Search for and select Udemy for Business as your trigger app
Set the Trigger Event: Choose a trigger—New Completion
Connect your Udemy for Business account: You need to log in and authorize Zapier to access your Udemy for Business data

03 Set up the trigger
Follow prompts to test and pull sample data from your Udemy for Business account. This will show Zapier what information will be sent when a course is completed
For the Action, select Certifier
Pick the action event that allows you to auto-issue a credential
Connect your Certifier account. You’ll be prompted to enter your Certifier API Access Token. You can generate this in Certifier under Account > Settings > Developers > Access Tokens. Copy and paste the token into Zapier
04 Configure certificate details and test
Map fields. Match the data from Udemy for Business (e.g., learner’s name and email) to the appropriate Certifier fields
Set certificate options. Choose the certificate group/template in Certifier, decide if the certificate issues automatically or as a draft and customize title/criteria as necessary
Set additional options like issue date, expiry date, etc.
Run a test in Zapier to ensure credentials are created in Certifier based on your sample Udemy course data. Check your Certifier dashboard for the test credential
05 Enable the Zap
Once the test is successful, click Publish Zap
Your automation is now live. Certifier will send a certificate each time a user completes a Udemy for Business course per your Zap configuration.
Here’s a detailed video tutorial on how to connect tools through Zapier:
Send certificates through Certifier to your Udemy free course graduates
Udemy provides a “student list” dashboard for each course, where you can see who enrolled and check the percentage of lectures each student has completed.
You can access this as follows:
Go to your course management page
Navigate to the Students section
Filter your student list for those who have completed 100% of the course
Use this data to send certificates via email directly from Certifier
This is a comprehensive guide on how to send certificates in bulk via email in Certifier.
A quick guide on editing a certificate template in Certifier
To deliver certificates that feel professional and on-brand, you'll need to adjust your template in Certifier first. Follow our instructions on how to create a certificate of completion:
Go to the Designs tab in your Certifier dashboard
Choose a ready-made template
Use the editor to change fonts, colors and add your logo

Add, move or delete text fields and elements as needed—remember that you can generate a QR code for your certificate directly in the Certifier template editor

Set up dynamic attributes to personalize each certificate
Save your changes and assign the template to a group for issuing
What are dynamic attributes?
In Certifier, dynamic attributes are placeholders that get replaced with real data when the certificate is issued. For example: learner’s name, course title or issue date.
On the certificate, you’ll work with two types of text:
Static text that stays the same for everyone, like a certificate title
Personal data fields that change depending on the recipient, like name or grade
Instead of manually editing each certificate, Certifier automatically fills in this data for every learner based on the spreadsheet you upload. If you’re a Udemy for Business user, you don't have to upload anything. Thanks to the Zapier integration, Certifier and Udemy exchange data automatically after each course completion.
What is a group in Certifier?
In Certifier, a group is like a workspace where you organize everything needed to issue a specific batch of certificates. You connect your certificate template to a course group and decide who will receive the certificate, what information will appear on it and when it should be sent.
Watch the video tutorial to get more details on how to edit templates in Certifier:
Go beyond Udemy certificate samples with Certifier
Udemy delivers your course, but its default certificate holds you back. Every course creator gets the same, non-editable layout.
Certifier changes that. You can issue branded, professional certificates that reflect your course. Add logos, custom text, expiration dates and automated email delivery.
If you’re on Udemy for Business, just connect Certifier through Zapier—certificates send automatically after course completion. Standard users can still issue certificates with a quick, semi-automated workflow.
Your learners get certificates they’re proud to share. You get a brand that stands out. Sign up free for Certifier or get a demo.
