Still got questions? We know how to answer those!

Canvas Badges is a digital badging tool connected to the Canvas LMS that allows educators and institutions to award badges for course completion, skills, or achievements.
It originated from Badgr and was later positioned under Canvas Credentials.
Badgr was the original badge platform. After being integrated into the Canvas ecosystem, it became commonly referred to as Canvas Badges/Canvas Credentials. In 2025, Canvas Credentials was rebranded again as Parchment Digital Badges, as part of Parchment’s credential network.
Canvas Badges used to be free for issuing, but that free issuing option has been phased out. New free issuer accounts stopped being created after June 30, 2025, and free issuers lost issuing access after December 31, 2025.
There is no longer a meaningful free plan for issuing, and pricing is not publicly listed. Canvas Credentials has effectively moved under Parchment Digital Badges, where pricing is quote-based (“gated”) depending on your institution and volume.
Canvas Badges works best inside Canvas, but common limitations include:
  • Primarily Canvas LMS–centered workflows
  • Badges-only (not full certificate support in the same way)
  • Limited branding/white-label control
  • Restricted bulk issuance workflows (often tied to course contexts)
  • Paid plans required to keep issuing after the free sunset
Certifier is built for teams that want:
  • A free forever plan
  • 100% white-label credentials (your brand, your domain)
  • Certificates and badges (not badges only)
  • Unlimited bulk issuance of credentials
  • Native integrations and automations across your tool stack (not just a single LMS)
It’s the easier choice for businesses and training teams that need flexibility beyond Canvas.
Certifier starts at $0 with a free forever plan, with upgrades available as you scale. Unlike quote-based platforms, Certifier pricing plans are transparent and designed to fit businesses of different sizes.
LMS: Yes. Certifier connects with popular LMS platforms (including Kajabi, Thinkific, LearnDash) and can also issue credentials through CSV uploads or automation workflows—so you’re not locked into a single LMS.
CRM & Spreadsheets: Certifier offers native integrations with tools like Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, HubSpot, and Salesforce, so you can trigger credential issuance directly from your existing data and workflows.
Yes. If you need to issue badges (and certificates) outside the Canvas LMS—or avoid quote-based pricing—Certifier is a direct alternative that supports bulk issuance, automation, and full branding control.
Yes. You can move your credential program to Certifier and continue issuing without relying on Canvas. Most teams migrate by exporting recipient data (where available), then re-issuing credentials in Certifier via CSV upload or integrations. If you still have access to your issuer data, you can transition quickly without disrupting learners.
Enterprises use Certifier for enterprise-grade credentialing without long onboarding cycles or rigid contracts. Key features include:
  • SSO support (Okta, SAML SSO, Microsoft Entra ID)
  • Scalable automation across systems
  • Full brand control across credentials
  • Multiple workspaces within one account
Yes. Startups choose Certifier because they can start issuing credentials for free, launch quickly, and only upgrade when their program grows—without being locked into annual contracts or gated pricing.
