Simple crimson basic life support certificate of completion template

This free BLS certificate of completion records that a learner showed the knowledge and practical skills your course teaches, and when that training runs out. It's designed for resuscitation training institutes that renew learners on a cycle and want the expiry date in plain view on every certificate.

The background is a warm cream, framed by crimson, coral, and beige diamonds stacked in the corners and along the sides. Your logo sits top center above a two-line serif title in crimson. The recipient's name is set in italic crimson script, followed by a short skills statement. A single line holds the date issued, expiry date, and credential ID.

Connect your LMS or upload a spreadsheet to issue a whole class at once. Every certificate links to a credential page with a verification link, on every plan.

What is a BLS certificate of completion?

A BLS certificate of completion confirms that a learner finished a basic life support course and passed its skills check, such as CPR, AED use, and basic airway management. Training institutes issue it so learners can show an employer the course, the date, and when they need to retrain.

Expiry matters because most BLS training is renewed on a fixed cycle. Your own certificate can follow the cycle your course uses. It records your course, but it doesn't stand in for another network's certification.

This template is laid out on A4 landscape (29.7 x 21 cm). Sign up for a free Certifier account to set your expiry rule and issue your first class.

What should a BLS certificate of completion include?

The fields an employer looks for first are the learner's name, the skills covered, and the expiry date. Use the online builder to edit the fields below.

Static fields

  • Organization block: Your institute's logo and name (e.g., Summit Resuscitation Institute).
  • Certificate title: The award name (e.g., Basic Life Support Certificate of Completion).
  • Authenticity note: A short line under the QR code (e.g., "This certificate's authenticity can be verified by scanning the QR code.").
  • Signature and role areas: Two signature lines (e.g., Dr. Halvard Kessler, Academic Director, and Renée Dubois, BLS Instructor).

Dynamic fields (automatically populated by Certifier)

  • Recipient name: The learner's full name (e.g., Isabella Fontaine-Ruiz).
  • Skills statement: What the learner showed (e.g., CPR, AED use, and basic airway management).
  • Date issued: The completion or issue date (e.g., February 11, 2026).
  • Expiry date (Professional and Advanced): When the training lapses (e.g., February 11, 2028). This template defaults to 2 years, and you can change it.

Your institute may also record a skills session date or a course code. Rename, add, or remove fields in Certifier's design builder.

How to issue BLS certificates of completion with an expiry date

  1. Set up the design once: Add your logo and both signatures, and edit the skills statement to match your course.
  2. Choose the validity period: Keep the default of 2 years or set the renewal period your course uses (Professional and Advanced plan feature). The expiry date then fills in on every certificate.
  3. Issue the class: Pull completions from your LMS or a spreadsheet. Certifier emails each learner a certificate and a link to their credential page.
  4. Plan the next round: Filter the Credential Repository by group or template to see which learners are due for a refresher course, then invite them back.

Who issues BLS certificates of completion?

Resuscitation training institutes

Institutes that teach BLS on a renewal cycle issue a dated certificate with the expiry printed on it, so learners and employers know when to book the next course.

Independent CPR and BLS instructors

Instructors running their own classes give learners a record that names the instructor and can be checked online.

Workplace safety trainers

Trainers set an expiry that matches each client's refresher policy, so every employee's record shows when training is due.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can customize this BLS certificate of completion on Certifier's free Starter plan, which allows up to 5 custom attributes. This template uses one custom field, the skills statement, so it fits easily. The QR code needs the Professional or Advanced plan, and so does the expiry date.

A BLS certificate's validity depends on who issues it. Many networks use 2 years: the Red Cross lists 2 years for BLS, for example. For your own course you decide, and this template defaults to 2 years on paid plans, which you can change before you issue.

Yes, employers can see a BLS certificate's expiry date if you set one on the Professional or Advanced plan. The date appears on the certificate and on the credential page that the verification link opens. An employer checking a learner sees right away when the next course is due.

Yes. If a certificate has an expiration date, Certifier emails the learner two weeks before it expires and again on the day it expires. You can edit both emails, so add a link to your refresher course or renewal page to show learners what to do next.

Issue each renewing learner a new certificate when they finish the refresher course. The new credential carries a fresh issue date and a new 2-year expiry.
